‘We couldn’t have done it without you’: Bikie’s shout out to CFMEU

The CFMEU has sponsored the boxing career of the son of a Hells Angels bikie while it has been under administration.

The CFMEU has sponsored the boxing career of the son of a Hells Angels bikie while it has been under administration.

Danny Bolt, who is pictured on social media wearing his bikie colours which includes a Sgt-At-Arms patch, has thanked the CFMEU for backing his son’s fights.

“A massive shout out to the CFMEU for their on going support. We couldn’t have done it without you,” Mr Bolt wrote on social media in March.

The sponsorship continued this year, despite the union being placed under administration because of its alleged links to bikies and organised crime.

It is not suggested that Mr Bolt has been involved in any wrongdoing, nor that his son was involved in the motorcycle club.

The building industry remains in turmoil amid delays in the return of a High Court ruling on whether new laws rushed through last year to place the CFMEU into administration were valid.

Administrator Mark Irving, KC, has been trying to make changes at the union, but sources claim his efforts have been hampered by the legal challenge.

More than 270 union officials were sacked when the CFMEU was placed into administration.

Mr Bolt this week confirmed he was still a member of the Hells Angels, but said his son had ended the CFMEU sponsorship.

“Yes I am but that’s nothing to do with Jesse,” he said.

Mr Bolt said that he had cut ties with the union.

“We don’t want anything to do with them really,” he said of the CFMEU, adding they were only a minor sponsor.

Mr Bolt said that Jesse, 20, had the potential to one day fight in Las Vegas.

“Jesse is going to be world class, we put him against other fighters and he’s just lit them up,” he said.

“He’s going to be a world champion, he’s going to be on the main stage.”

Jesse, who goes by the nickname Tip Rat, won in a first round knock out against Lucas Crack in February at the Croatian Club in Melbourne’s inner west in February.

He also won in a first round knock out against Bashir Nassir in April at the Melbourne Pavilion in Flemington.

Jesse will fight at the same venue again in August for a state title, with tickets selling for up to $450 a head.

His next fight was likely to be for an Australian title, Mr Bolt added.

Jesse’s amateur boxing career included a stint at the Australian Institute of Sports and a trip to Spain to represent Australia in 2022, which was sponsored by the CFMEU.

Mr Bolt also thanked CFMEU official Joel Shackleton, in a post that was linked, or tagged, to the CFMEU’s Victorian page this year.

However, he said that he had not seen Mr Shackleton for “years” except potentially at a funeral.

Mr Shackleton was due in court in August on charges of threatening to kill the owner of an Indigenous labour hire company, which he has denied.

The CFMEU has not been paying his legal bills.

Mr Shackleton and the CFMEU did not respond to requests for comment.
