Matilda’s star Sam Kerr has rushed to be by her grandmother’s side after the driver of a ute allegedly struck her with his car and has since been charged.
Kerr’s grandmother, Coral, 89, was allegedly hit by the 63-year-old man, who was driving in the southern suburb of Palmyra at 11am Friday where the incident occurred.
According to witnesses, his vehicle allegedly drove on the footpath as it tried to overtake a bus she had just got off in the street.

She was just metres from her home where she was treated at the scene and then taken to Royal Perth Hospital. She is in a serious but stable condition according to a hospital spokeswoman. She has a broken femur, ankle and hip.
“A bus pulled up at the bus stop and there was a line of traffic, of cars, but this chap must have got very impatient and he decided he’d pull out and go down on the footpath,” neighbour Florence Mudge told 9News Perth.
Fellow neighbour Mary Ivey also rushed to her aid after the accident.
“She really wasn’t responding too much, she was very sweaty and clammy,” Ms Ivey said.
“I think she was in shock obviously.
“We just pray that Coral’s got the strength to pull through this.”
The male driver will appear in Fremantle Magistrates Court in Western Australia on February 4.
Sam flew home from Sydney on Saturday with her parents Roger and Roxanne after the horrific incident. When she touched down at the airport, she quickly left and asked for privacy as her father spoke to media crews.
“I don’t really know,” Roger Kerr told 7News.
“I’ve just come from the Hunter Valley from a wedding ...,” he added.
