Great Place to Work survey reveals top 55 tech workplaces in Australia
Employee satisfaction and company culture are more important than ever before. A new survey has revealed Australia’s top tech workplaces. See the full list.
Diversity, social responsibility, and personal wellbeing rank high on the list for Australians when it comes to what makes a great place to work, according to the results of this year’s Best Workplaces in Technology 2023 list.
The top scorers in Great Place to Work’s inaugural tech-focused list all showed commitment to social, diversity and inclusion measures within the workplaces outside of people’s day to day roles.
“From wellbeing subsidies to support for local charities including indigenous and NFP community work – employees at these organisations are encouraged, and given the time and space, to spend time improving their own wellbeing and that of the communities in which they work,” Roland Wee, Managing Director of Great Place to Work Australia, said.
“Clients this year reported an increase in ensuring their leaders have certificates or undertake courses in mental health support training and matters, and we’ve seen an increased focus and investment in team resilience programs to support their workforce through challenges – not just during times of macro change like the pandemic.”
Mr Wee said the purpose of awards was to recognise those organisations who ensure they facilitate genuine people first, purpose driven workplace cultures.
“These awards aren’t meant to highlight those who provide crazy perks or ping pong tables for their employees – people just want to have a safe workplace – both physically and physiologically, trust their employer is doing the right thing by them, have pride in what they do, and enjoy the people they work with,” he said.
“The organisations we highlight on this list today exemplify being leaders in workplace culture, investing in their staff and whose employees report they have consistently had that positive experience - and that is something to be celebrated.”
The results aren’t based off a good month or a one-off event, instead, they’re based on consistently positive employee experiences, underpinned by high levels of trust, respect, credibility, fairness, pride, and camaraderie.
“It’s a well-known fact that a happy workforce is a productive one,” said Dee Save, Talent Advisor of data service company, Displayr, which took out first place in the small technology category.
“Sure, work is important, but your health and happiness take precedence. Somewhere where you can make a difference, where your opinions and input are welcomed and appreciated.”
A great place to work not only fosters a spirit of innovation, but also attracts the best talent, according to Ben Dawson, Vice President of Cisco Australia and New Zealand which ranked number one in the medium to large business category.
“Technology is especially important now in the world of hybrid working, and companies need to meet employees where they are or risk losing talent,” Mr Dawson said.
At its core, a great workplace was one that valued employees and created an environment that fostered growth, development, and innovation,” said Damien Andreasen, Vice President Asia Pacific Japan, HIBob, the award winner for best micro-sized tech company.
“This includes providing opportunities for learning and development, recognising and rewarding employee contributions, and cultivating a culture of belonging, inclusion and diversity,” he said.
