Gilmore family of Tattykeel snap up Kelpie for $49,000

A female Kelpie, sired by a dog named Donald Trump, has fetched an eye-watering price at an invitational sale near Bathurst.

A working dog has set a new benchmark price, with a Kelpie selling for $49,000 in what is believed to be a world record.

The bitch, Capree Eve, was sold at the Capree Poll Merion and invitational working dog sale yesterday near Bathurst, NSW, and bought by the Gilmore family from Tattykeel Australian White Stud at Oberon, NSW.

Eve was bred by Chris Stapleton and was sired by Capree Donald Trump.

The 18-month-old bitch was described as a good all-rounder, had done paddock, yard and shed work on cattle and goats.

Her sales description said the dog “casts well and has very correct balance on a few head of stock with nice natural distance”.

“She has a ton of force and bark in the yard and if needed, also in the paddock on a mob as well,” the presale description said.

“She is a good backing dog with a nice calm disposition.”

The previous best for a working dog was $35,000 paid last year for a male dog, Hoover.
