Anthony Albanese has become the first Prime Minister to win re-election since 2004, after more than 18 million Australians cast their ballot on Saturday.
Labor has secured an unexpected majority, claiming 73 of the 150 seats in the House of Representatives, including Peter Dutton’s seat of Dickson.
The Coalition has secured just 31 seats as of Sunday morning.
The Greens are also licking their wounds, with leader Adam Bandt at risk of losing his seat.
