Rodeo fans and competitors are set to descend on the Mallee town of Berriwillock for the first time in 25 years with the high-octane event reborn.

The Berriwillock Rodeo Committee have revitalised the competition with a weekend of action planned at the Berriwillock Recreational Reserve, 20km southeast of Sea Lake.

Patrons can expect events including the open bullride, bareback, saddle bronc, ladies barrel and junior competitions, with gates opening at 2pm on Saturday.

There is also free camping available both Friday and Saturday nights, plus a food court incorporating 10 food trucks, kids entertainment area, including jumping castle, mechanical bull ride.

Reigning ladies barrel national champion Julie Breed, who accumulated the most points and prize money across the 2024 calendar year in the event, is set to compete across the weekend at Berriwillock.

“The committee really wants to get this event up and running and keep it going year to year,” she said.

“Hopefully we can get some great crowds, they really bring the energy when they get excited when we are competing.”

At the rodeo there will also be live music from 8pm to late, and cooked breakfast available from 7am on Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are available to purchase online and at the gate (if not sold out prior).
