Investigations into Tini Store smash-up continue nearly one week later
The independent store on the Stuart Highway had to close last weekend after a car allegedly crashed into a parked vehicle and smashed the windows.
NT Police said investigations into an incident which left a Darwin shopfront smashed up after a car allegedly rammed into it last weekend, are still ongoing.
Officers responded to reports of a crash at 3.45am on Saturday, September 6 at Tini Store, a shop specialising in baby products, on the Stuart Highway.
A 60-year-old man who was driving a vehicle allegedly rear-ended a parked car which was then pushed into the front windows of the store.
He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
Police said the driver was subjected to a roadside breath test at the scene which returned positive.
The 60-year-old was arrested and taken to Royal Darwin Hospital for some blood tests.
NT Police said investigations remain ongoing but that charges are expected to be dispensed soon.
A spokeswoman reminded drivers to be aware on the road.
“The NT Police Force reminds motorists that speeding, drink and drug driving, not wearing seatbelts, fatigue and distraction continue to be the leading causes of death and serious injury on Territory roads,” an NT Police spokeswoman said.
