GrainCorp adds 15,000 tonnes of bunker storage at Tocumwal grain site
GrainCorp continues to add more storage capacity in Victoria and NSW as part of their huge expansion plan.
GrainCorp is adding another 15,000 tonnes of bunker storage to its Tocumwal receival site in time for this year’s grain harvest.
It is the second southern site to receive an upgrade, after the bulk handler announced in August it was adding 80,000 tonnes of capacity to the Murchison East storage.
GrainCorp supply chain south senior manager Craig Cochrane said Tocumwal was one of 60 storage sites which broke their all-time receival record last harvest, taking in more than 150,000 tonnes.
GrainCorp managing director Robert Spurway said in August the company planned to build one million tonnes of extra storage across Victoria, NSW and Queensland this year, plus re-open a number of closed sites.
Mr Cochrane said GrainCorp would re-open the Kiacatoo site west of Condobolin in NSW this harvest after being closed for seven years.
He said it had four bunkers capable of holding 80,000 tonnes, plus a shed with a 20,000-tonne capacity.
A new weighbridge has been installed and the sample stand upgraded, and it will only take wheat this harvest.
Mr Cochrane said Kiacatoo would take the pressure off Condobolin, which had a 300,000-tonne capacity.
