The Deadly Cup Carnival was another roaring success in 2025 with the Territory and Indigenous All Stars duking it out alongside the visiting Gove squad.
Gove impressed in their first outing back in Darwin four months in the making against a Barbarians squad that almost ran home for the win in the dying moments.
Meanwhile, the Indigenous All Stars playing for their culture kicked off NAIDOC week in style with the senior men’s and women’s sides conquering their foes.
Deadly Cup founder and director of Deadly Vision Centre Shaun Tatipata was impressed by the buy in of the players in the sixth year of the event.
“There was a really good turnout and really good footy being played,” he said.
“Everyone was extremely proud to represent their teams, both the Territory All Stars and Indigenous All Stars and I’m really proud of that.”
There was just as much action off the ground as there was on it with multiple exhibitors covering Indigenous health, food and culture.
“We had more than 20 exhibitors out here and we had lots of different interactive activities happening, particularly for the kids,” Tatipata said.
“When I got a chance to go out and have a conversation with them all, they were all really happy with the amount of people that came through.
“The cultural activities were next level with Dingo Cockatoo Aboriginal Culture coming down with reptiles to teach kids about caring for country and totems.
“Then there was the traditional food as well, to be able to share that culture was special and shows rugby league is just one part of the Deadly Cup.”
