Executive changes announced at family-run Teys Australia
Two key executives of a family-run meat processing company have announced they are stepping down. Here’s what we know.
TWO stalwarts of the family-run company Teys Australia are stepping down from their positions later this year, in a move that, according to the company, has been years in the making.
It was announced today Brad Teys, after 20 years as chief executive of Teys Australia and two years as both chief executive and chairman, will step down from his positions effective July 1 2021.
It was also announced executive director of livestock Geoff Teys will retire from July 1, after 50 years of service and 31 years as executive director.
Teys Australia, established by the Teys family in 1946, operates across 14 locations nationally. The business encompasses feedlots, beef processing plants, food manufacturing facilities, a hide processing site and distribution.
According to a statement from Brad Teys, both Brad and Geoff will remain on the board as director and executive chairman respectively.
Andrew MacPherson was confirmed as the new chief executive.
In the statement released today, Brad Teys said he felt fortunate to have been a part of “immense change” in the livestock industry over a 40-year period.
“Through an unrelenting commitment to remaining nimble and innovative, Teys
has not only adapted but thrived. The business transformed from a small, family-run business into a modern, efficient and customer focused global player. I am immensely proud of these achievements,” Mr Teys said.
Geoff Teys said it was after “careful consideration” it was time to step back from day to day operations” at the company.
“This year not only marks my fiftieth year in the business, but also the Teys family’s 75th year in the Australian beef industry,” Mr Teys said.
The statement confirmed while the announced changes were “significant”, they had been “in the planning for a number of years”.
Mr MacPherson said plans for a seamless transition have been in place “for a number of years”.
