Corey Ireland yet to enter plea
Former Angus stud principal Corey Ireland is facing 13 criminal charges. Here’s what happened in court today.
A cattle producer charged by police with 13 fraud offences did not appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday and the matter has been stood over until February 2023.
Corey Dean Ireland was charged with 13 counts of dishonestly obtaining financial advantage by deception following inquiries by the Rural Crime Investigation Unit in NSW. He is yet to enter a plea.
Mr Ireland was excused from attending court this week and was legally represented by Wagga Wagga solicitor ZacTankard.
On December 17, 2019 his former property, and once the home of Ireland’s Angus Stud, at Kyeamba in southern NSW was raided by police.
Mr Ireland was later charged with the alleged offences in April 2020 after a long-running police investigation.
Meanwhile, his former company CD and PJ Ireland was placed into liquidation with a long list of creditors. As a result there were simultaneous civil matters with some cases still before the NSW Supreme Court.
An additional company, registered by Mr Ireland called IFTT Pty Ltd, has also been at the centre of a Supreme Court matter with creditor Westpac initiating the process on December 24, 2019.
Meanwhile, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission cancelled the business name Ireland’s Angus, which was registered on August 24, 2020. In addition, Irelands Angus Breeding Pty Ltd, registered on May 18, 2018 has been deregistered.
The bail undertaking entered by Mr Ireland on April 8, 2020 is continued.
The matter is listed for further mention (committal) in Wagga Wagga Local Court on February 15, 2023.
