CDUs pathway to politics for women program comes to Alice Springs for the first time
A program which has only been available in Darwin has now made its way to the Red Centre – and the organisers want you to get involved. Find out how.
A program which helped one woman get the skills needed to be successful in politics is headed to the Red Centre for the first time.
Charles Darwin University is extending the Pathways to Politics for Women NT program to Alice Springs for the first time this year.
Normally held in Darwin, the program allows participants to take part in two one-on-one sessions on how to be successful in politics.
Previously, former NT Greens candidate for Braitling Asta Hill, who almost beat CLP incumbent Josh Burgoyne for the seat in the 2024 Territory election, took part in the program, as well as current Fannie Bay CLP MLA Laurie Zio.
Ms Zio said taking part in the program helped her decide if politics was right for her.
“The program gave me increased insight into the roles, responsibilities and personal attributes requires to be successful in the political arena,” she said.
“Breaking through traditional barriers and challenging long-held stereotypes, women are stepping into political arenas with determination, resilience, and a vision for change.”
Applications for the program close May 15 and can be made on the CDU website.
