‘You look like an absolute goose, mate’: Video captures Melbourne cop’s extraordinary speech as speeding driver pulled over
An Aussie cop’s extraordinary spray towards two young men pulled over for speeding – where he blasts one as an “absolute goose” and urges him to “grow some brains” – has been captured on video.
Video has captured an Australian police officer’s extraordinary spray towards two young men caught speeding in Melbourne’s CBD – with many praising his “polite” approach.
The two men were pulled over on Chapel St in Melbourne on Saturday after allegedly speeding – being met with two officers.
In a video shared to TikTok, the passenger captured the moment the officer begins lecturing the pair, they were treated “like sons”.
“Do you just think it’s cool and you think that all the girls are going go: ‘Oh look at this?’” the officer is heard saying.
“Well mate, it’s not cool.
“You look like an absolute goose, mate. That’s what you look like, mate. And I’m being polite about that.”
The officer warned his behaviour could land him behind bars, with the driver simply nodding his head and repeating the word “yeah”.
“Mate, grow some brains. That’s all I want to say to you, grow some brains,” the cop said.
“Driving a car comes with a responsibility. It’s a mature responsibility and at the moment, you’re not displaying that.
“You’re just carrying on like a 14-year-old behind the wheel. You really are.”
The driver cleared a breath test, to which the officer said: “At least you’re doing something right tonight.”
Advising him to show “a bit of maturity and beverage”, the driver was let off without a charge.
Many took to social media to express their approval of the officer’s approach.
“Treated the driver like how a father would talk to his son,” one wrote.
Another joked: “He’s not mad just disappointed.”
“Hats off to the boys in blue, sometimes it’s the only way to get through to these drivers who think they are indestructible,” a third comment read.
“Cop would’ve made me stay up all night thinking about every life decision I have ever made,” another wrote.
