A protester glued herself to furniture to growl at Premier Jacinta Allan during Question Time inside the Victorian Parliament’s public gallery.

A protester allegedly glued herself to furniture inside the public gallery of Victoria’s parliament to “growl” at Premier Jacinta Allan.

The woman allegedly yelled abuse at the Premier over a crime policy that will see juvenile offenders serve adult time, for adult crime, which is expected to pass parliament this week.

The Herald Sun reported the woman stood up in the public gallery and began screaming, “I have come to growl at Jacinta Allan.”

“Jacinta Allan, adult time for adult crime? Disgusting! Despicable!

“Jacinta Allan, adult time for adult crime? Disgusting! A violation of human rights, what type of a woman are you?

“God save the children because nothing will save Jacinta Allan.”

It was reported security staff and police attended the scene and the woman was removed about 3.15pm on Wednesday.

Ms Allan released a statement saying the woman disrupted Question Time to protest against Adult Time for Violent Crime laws disrupted Question Time.

“Violent crime is serious. Stunts like these certainly aren’t. They will not deter us one bit,” she said.

“I acknowledge people have different views, but I am listening to victims of crime – that’s why we’re pushing ahead with Adult Time for Violent Crime, so the chance of jail is stronger, and sentences are longer.

“We want Adult Time for Violent Crime in place as soon as possible.

The Premier said MPs would not leave parliament this week until their Bill passed.

“At this point, the one thing stopping Adult Time becoming law is Jess Wilson and the Liberals – who could still block it or delay it.”

Victoria police confirmed the woman was arrested after she attempted to glue her hand to a chair inside Parliament House on Spring St about 2.10pm on Wednesday.

“The woman was able to remove her hand from the chair without assistance,” a police spokesman said.

“The 61-year-old Brunswick West woman was escorted off the premises about 3.15pm.”

Police expect the woman will be charged and will appear in the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday afternoon.
