NSW Police confirm body of boy, 16, found in Macquarie River, Dubbo

The body of a 16-year-old boy who was last seen swimming in a river has been found.

The body of a teenage boy missing after he went for a swim has been found in a river in central NSW.

Emergency services were called to the Macquarie River, near Sandy Beach Rd, in Dubbo, following reports of a person in the water about 5.50pm on Monday.

Police were told a 16-year-old boy disappeared from sight after he went into the river to swim at about 5.40pm.

A large scale search was launched, with assistance of Police Rescue, SES and VRA Rescue NSW Sadly, the boy’s body was found about 12.30pm on Tuesday.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
