Motorcyclist killed in crash on Gore Hill Freeway at Naremburn
A motorcyclist has been killed in a crash on a Sydney freeway, with warnings to avoid the area as traffic comes to a standstill.
A motorcyclist has been killed in a horror collision on a Sydney freeway, bringing traffic on the busy route to a standstill.
Police officers at the scene were told the motorcycle crashed into the back of a ute on the Gore Hill Freeway at Naremburn, near Willoughby Rd, just before 10.30am on Wednesday.
The motorcycle rider was treated by paramedics at the scene but died from his injuries.
He is yet to be formally identified.
Nearby, an Uber Eats delivery bag was found lying on the ground.
The driver of the ute was not injured but has been taken to hospital for mandatory testing.
A crime scene has been established as police investigate the circumstances of the crash.
All northbound lanes of the freeway between Brook St and Reserve Rd and one southbound lane were closed immediately after the crash, causing significant delays.
One northbound lane and all southbound lanes have since been reopened at Willoughby, though two northbound lanes are still closed.
Motorists are advised to exercise caution and allow extra travel time, as southbound traffic remains heavy.
A rescue helicopter and traffic crews also responded to the scene.
