Metal giants Metallica will be stopping Down Under as part of their M72 world tour, marking their first Aussie shows in more than 10 years.

The band, known for hits Master of Puppets and Enter Sandman, are set to perform five shows across Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney in November 2025.

The rockers will be bringing along Evanescence — with hits Bring Me To Life and Going Under — as well as Suicidal Tendencies, best known for their hit Institutionalized.

The tour will mark the first time Metallica will hit Aussie shores since the 2013 Soundwave festival, where they headlined along with Linkin Park and Blink-182.

It follows a cancelled Australian stadium tour in 2020, with lead singer and rhythm guitarist James Hetfield having undergone rehab for addiction.

“As most of you probably know, our brother James has been struggling with addiction on and off for many years,” a statement at the time read.

“He has now, unfortunately, had to re-enter a treatment program to work on his recovery again.

“We fully intend to make our way to your part of the world as soon as health and schedule permit. We’ll let you know as soon as we can.”

The band will play Perth’s Optus Stadium on November 1 next year, followed by Adelaide Oval on November 5, Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium on November 8, Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on November 12, Sydney’s Accor Stadium on November 15, and Eden Park in Auckland on November 19.

Accor Stadium’s website confirmed the infamous Snake Pit will be included throughout the tour, which “makes you a part of the show and is the closest place to the stage to see the band”, according to Metallica’s website.

Meet and greets are also on the cards, however die hard fans will be able to purchase an “I Disappear Ticket”.

The ticket allows fans to attend all six Aussie and New Zealand shows.

Travel packages that include tickets and hotel accommodation will also be available in four of the six cities according to Accor Stadium.

The world tour kicked off in April 2023 following the release of their latest album 72 Seasons.

The band’s first album, Kill ‘Em All — released in 1983 — features heavy hits Jump In The Fire and Whiplash, however their 1986 record Master Of Puppets truly solidified them as the kings of metal.

Presales for the Aussie and New Zealand dates are set to go on sale next week, with a Vodafone and Commbank Yello Mastercard presale commencing on October 30, followed by a Live Nation presale on November 1, and a general sale and Westfield Reserve sale on November 4.
