Hi-5 star Lauren Brant-Hall shares tribute to ‘chosen sister’ who died from bowel cancer

The popular children’s show cast member is urging Aussies to get checked after her “chosen” sister’s tragic health battle.

A Hi-5 star is urging Australians to stay on top of health checks after her sister-in-law lost her battle with bowel cancer.

Lauren Brant-Hall, 35, posted a heartbreaking tribute to her brother’s wife Sandra Brant on the third anniversary of her death on March 4, 2021.

She died from an aggressive form of bowel cancer at just 41 years old.

In a carousel of black-and-white photographs shared to Instagram, Brant-Hall paid tribute to her “chosen sister”, whom her brother met and fell in love with during high school.

“3 years without my chosen sister,” her caption read.

“I wish more than anything that you were still here.

“For you, for your children … for your family … for our family.”

The carousel features photos of the women sharing each other's company through important life milestones like Ms Brant’s wedding day and another wearing matching bridesmaids dresses.

She rounded out the tribute with an important message to her 62,000 followers, reminding them to take an at-home test to check for bowel cancer.

“THIS IS YOUR REMINDER TO DO YOUR AT HOME BOWEL CANCER TEST,” Brant-Hall said.

“It could save your life.”

An at-home bowel cancer test is free for Australians aged between 50 and 75 and is also available for purchase online or from a chemist.

Those not eligible can talk with their doctor about getting a private pathology test, according to the federal health department.

Ms Brant was first diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2019 at just 39 years old.

After surgery to remove the cancer, she seemed to make a full recovery however then received a stage 4 diagnosis in 2021.

Announcing the news of her death, Ms Brant-Hall said Ms Brandt died in her husband’s arms, saying it was her “favourite place in the whole world”.

“She absolutely loved her husband Tyron, son Connor and daughter Allegra, with her whole being,” she said in an Instagram post.

“She took her last breath in her husband’s arms, her favourite place in the whole world, and is now finally at peace.

“For those who have been blessed to know Sandra, have been touched by an Angel.”

Brant-Hall was cast in a 2017 remake of Channel 9’s hit children’s show Hi-5, which was popularised during the early 2000s.

She is married to AFL legend Barry Hall.
