Driver hospitalised after a car hit a vehicle and flipped near Manly Beach
A driver in his 70s has been taken to hospital after he hit a construction vehicle and flipped near Manly Beach.
Roads along Manly Beach have been closed after a driver allegedly hit a vehicle before flipping near Manly Beach.
A NSW Ambulance spokesman confirmed a man in his 70s was involved in a single vehicle accident, he suffered minor injuries and was transported to Royal North Shore Hospital.
A police spokesman said officers were told the vehicle allegedly crashed into a car park boom gate before it rolled.
A witness reported the driver “sped full speed through the Coles car park crossing on the wrong side, smashed into a construction vehicle and then flipped after hitting a tree on the boardwalk.”
“It’s an actual miracle he hit that tree otherwise people would’ve been mowed down on the boardwalk,” a witness said.
NSW Fire and Rescue superintendent Adam Dewberry said emergency services rushed to the scene at Wentworth St and South Steyne just before 2pm on Wednesday.
He said the male driver was removed from the vehicle about 15 minutes later.
