A woman has been killed and another injured after lightning struck a tree in Sydney’s southwest.
A woman has been killed and another rushed to hospital after a lightning strike in Sydney's southwest.
The woman, aged in her 40s, was struck by shrapnel from a tree about 5.30pm at a home on Old Razorback Rd in Cawdor.
The woman was treated by paramedics however could not be revived, a NSW Police spokeswoman said.
“A second woman, also aged in her 40s, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to Liverpool Hospital where she remains in a serious but stable condition,” she said.
“A report will be prepared for the Coroner.”
A severe thunderstorm warning with heavy rainfall was issued at 3.10pm by the Bureau of Meteorology for parts of the Hunter, Illawarra and Central Tablelands.
