‘Bizarre’: Mystery as stranger repeatedly caught swimming in family pool

Police have launched an investigation after an unknown man was caught repeatedly sneaking into a family home to take a dip in their pool.

A Queensland family are in disbelief after a stranger allegedly snuck into their home half a dozen times and used their swimming pool without permission.

Homeowner Holly Stevens said the unknown man had repeatedly snuck into the property in New Farm in northern Brisbane to take a dip at least five times since January.

Labelling the move as “entitled”, Ms Stevens told 9News she’s “come to the conclusion he’s obviously scoping out the property” while no one was home before taking a dip.

The man, who could be seen on CCTV cameras checking out the home, would take off his shoes and socks at the front door before taking the plunge into the pool, stretching his muscles and completing a few laps.

While the family claims to have caught him in the act five times since January 19, Ms Stevens believes he may have snuck in several times before.

“We installed better CCTV after about the second time, so now we can see pretty clearly when he accesses the property, but yeah, before that, we, it’s likely that he could have entered and we just wouldn’t have known,” she said, adding the entire situation was “bizarre”.

“He’s like, sweaty, has sneakers on, and he’s running, and then he’s stretching in the pool after a run, which is honestly very gross, because it’s just like this guy that we don’t know,” she said.

A Queensland Police spokesperson told NewsWire they were investigating the alleged trespassing incidents between January 19 and April 25.

“Anyone with additional CCTV, dashcam or who may have witnessed anything in the area is asked to contact police,” they said.
