‘Australia is a different planet’: Vibrant Tiktok capturing 6am Aussie sunrise stuns the world

A Tiktokker’s reel of a breathtaking Bondi sunrise has stunned the world – but still invited plenty of dissent from some who consider it an ordinary Aussie morning.
The video, captured by creator Molly-Mae, of the 6am scenes at Bondi Beach has racked up more than 700,000 views for depicting an ordinary morning along the world-famous eastern suburb’s beach.
“No hangovers here, just run clubs, surfers, coffees & sunrises …” Molly-Mae captioned her post.
“I swear Australia is a different planet. Everyone else in the world: snooze alarm. People in Bondi, Australia …”
The TikTok pans over a beachfront lively with runners, swimmers, surfers dog walkers and sunrise-seekers, before capturing the blazing pink and orange sky.
People in the comments shared the creator’s sentiment, with one user saying: “this is 1000x better of a way to live than drinking and wasting away your mornings in bed”, and another writing, “ … the best way to start the day is have coffee while watching the day start in the sky …”
Another wrote “Bondi, the beach that never sleeps” and another remarked how Australia was the “best country in the world, don’t you bloody forget it cobber”.
Some seemed inspired to move to the land Down Under.
“FINE, I’m moving there”, one user wrote, while another said: “this just confirmed that my next trip needs to be here!”.
But some commenters weren’t as impressed.
One called out Bondi for being “Over crowded, over priced (and) pretentious”.
Others branded the beach as “such an awful place” and “truly dreadful”.
Many took their opportunity to slam Sydney’s night life, commenting: “Don’t the pubs close at like 10pm” and “yea but we go to bed at 8pm which is pretty boring”.
Bondi had even gained attention from recently sacked women’s cricket coach Jon Lewis who blamed the English team’s Ashes demise on the fact Aussies have an “outdoorsy” culture.
“I walked from Bondi to Coogee … and pretty much every Australian in the eastern suburbs is in the water, doing surf lifesaving, playing touch rugby,” Lewis said.
“For me, that’s a cultural difference. I definitely think Australia have an advantage in terms of athleticism.”
