Aussie TV star Kay McGrath reveals death of fiance Richard Moore
An Australian TV star has revealed a “devastating” shock that happened in the middle of a trip through India.
Australian TV star Kay McGrath has revealed the devastating news her fiancee has died while overseas on a trip.
McGrath was travelling through India with her fiance, Mr Moore, when he suffered a heart attack.
“My darling fiancee and soulmate Richard has passed away after suffering a sudden and totally unexpected heart attack in Agra, India,” McGrath wrote in a social media post.
“Local doctors did all they could to save him.”
McGrath said she managed to share a “special time” with her fiance the day before his death at the Taj Mahal, which had given her “some comfort”.
“I’ll always treasure that and all the wonderful memories we created together over many years,” she wrote.
“Richard was so loved and valued by family and friends.
“He leaves a huge hole in our hearts. A king, smart, generous, wickedly funny and genuinely good man — we all miss you so much darling.”
Tributes have begun to flow in for Mr Moore, who had been engaged to McGrath since 2016, according to The Courier Mail.
“I keep re-reading this and hoping it’s not real. How absolutely heartbreaking. All our love to you and the family,” one wrote.
“Reading this took all of my breath out of my body. I truly cannot imagine what you’re going through, but we are here for you always. I wish I could hug you right now,” another commented.
“My heart breaks for you all,” added another.
McGrath, a former newsreader for Seven, last year told The Courier Mail she was “so grateful” to have found Mr Moore.
“He supports me and understands that I still need to plug into city life,” McGrath told the masthead.
“We do have one of the longest engagements, but I think it’s a bit sexier to be engaged than married.”
