With 1870ha of cropping and grazing land and a 1900 federation homestead this New England farm is on the market for millions.

Time to invest: Where the money is coming from

NSW wool grower Alistair Yencken and rural communications specialist Robbie Sefton have listed 1800ha of New England cropping and grazing country for sale.

Braemar, about 30km from Tamworth and home to a 1900 federation homestead, is on the market and expected to field offers of more than $20 million.

Mr Yencken and Ms Sefton purchased Braemar in 2007, developing their sheep, wool and cropping enterprise during the past 15 years.

LAWD senior director Danny Thomas said Braemar was likely to attract Sydney buyers looking for a tree-change.

“Located less than 35km from Tamworth, the new buyers will have access to a range of private schools, medical services, shopping outlets and a major business centre,” Mr Thomas said.

“The property has been droughtproofed through a sophisticated bore water system that supplies all 42 paddocks, all roads have been maintained to a high standard, and all fencing has been improved.

“Braemar is especially unique because of its scale and proximity to a well-serviced airport.”

Ms Sefton and Mr Yencken have planted 12,500 native trees on their farming country, during their ownership.

“Our mission has always been to really care for the land – to ensure it is as productive and profitable as possible, and that it is left in a better condition than when we took it on,” Ms Sefton said.

“In turn, Braemar has offered a fantastic lifestyle. Anyone who visits is taken back by the private serenity of the homestead and majestic views.”

Braemar is set on 90 per cent red basalt soils with the balance black basalt, supporting a five-year rotational cropping and grazing program encompassing grazing oats, wheat, barley, canola, vetch and lupins.

The property carries 5500 Merino ewes and 3000 hoggets with an annual average rainfall of between 650 and 700mm.

The circa-1900 homestead has also undergone a refurbishment with a further four well-maintained residences including a historic Cobb and Co Coach House at Braemar.

Earlier this year Greg Upton sold his 2668ha holdings near Nowendoc and Niangala in a deal worth more than $70 million.
