Suzuki halts ATV sales: Dealers told not to sell quad bikes nationwide
Suzuki dealers have been told to stop selling the company’s quad bikes nationwide.
SUZUKI dealers have been told to stop selling quad bikes, bringing many regional dealers to their knees.
The Japanese motoring giant sent out a bulletin this week warning dealers not to sell any more quad bikes (ATVs).
When asked if rumours of the trading halt were correct, Suzuki National Marketing Manager Lewis Croft said “yes that’s correct, a dealer bulletin went out”.
Asked why the dealers had been told not to sell any more quad bikes, Mr Croft said it was an “internal matter”.
“It’s a matter we’re trying to iron out with dealers,” he said.
In May last year Suzuki joined other Japanese motorcycle giants — Honda and Yamaha — in announcing it would pull out of the Australian market by October this year, rather than comply with new safety standards.
Under the standard all new quad bikes must be fitted with operator protection devices by October.
