NEW Holland is keen to maintain its reputation for producing the world’s most powerful combine harvesters, raising the bar again with its 700hp CR Revelation.

That makes it 50hp more powerful than the previous CR10.90, but the improvements haven’t stopped there.

The brand is claiming a 10 per cent improvement on productivity with revised crop flow controls and the header’s twin rotors. It also has a new residue system capable of spreading chaff out to 14 metres.

“The CR combine already holds the world record for harvesting,” said New Holland product manager Marc Smith.

“It’s the most powerful combine in the market with the highest capacity.

“The control of crop flow has been improved, assisting our customers increase their productivity; we increased capacity and residue management performance. And with the new styling we improved visibility and serviceability.”

He said the extra throughput would not compromise the quality of the finished product with a claim of “remarkably low” crackage. In 2015 it claimed 0.2 per cent crackage.

The new cab-controlled adjustable rotor vanes, with infinitely variable position between slow and fast, are designed to achieve crop flow control and power efficiency gains.

This is to take advantage of better crop separation conditions in the middle of the day by speeding up the vanes, then slowing them down when it’s dewy to keep the material in the machine longer.

This feature is offered standard on all 22-inch rotor models at the top of the range, as is an in-cab concave reset designed to reduce downtime in case of a concave breakaway.

The operator empties rotors, stops the combine, rearms the concaves automatically and resumes harvest, saving the 20-30 minutes that doing the operation manually would require.

There are six models in the Revelation range starting at CR7.90 and ranging to CR10.90 with the top three models getting the optional Twin Pitch Plus rotors with 3-inch raspbars (the part that contacts the material to separate the grain).

The extra width is designed to deliver power efficiency gains ranging from 20kW in the CR8.90 to 28kW in the top-of-the-range CR10.90.

Together with other improvements, which include higher rotor covers on the two smaller 17-inch rotor diameter models, the deep cut Dynamic Feed Roll (standard on CR9.90 and CR10.90) and the power upgrade, these features are claimed to deliver a 10 per cent productivity increase.

The new residue management system is designed to deliver a finer chop, wider spread and better distribution.

New Holland said the improvements to the chopper, which include a reinforced rotor, longer counter knives and increased chopper speed, result in a finer sample and a 50 per cent reduction of long straw.

The chaff spreader has been redesigned with an air crop flow system replacing the traditional impact-based design, while spreading width has been increased to 14 metres and is adjustable from the cab.

The straw management system has also come in for an upgrade with claimed 25 per cent stronger hydromotors, V-shaped paddles and cleaning scrapers.

It also gets a new colour scheme inside and on the upper part of the combine for better visibility during the harvest and daily maintenance. The main frame, grain pan and beater grate are now in yellow.

The new combines are available for order. For details, visit the New Holland website.
