Three die in horror crash in Queensland’s Western Downs
Three people have died and another two have been taken to hospital following a horror crash on Monday morning.
A father and his two children have died following a horror car crash in Queensland’s Western Downs.
A ute and sedan were involved in the fatal crash on Dalby Jandowae Rd, Jimbour East, just north of Dalby, about 11am.
It has since been revealed a man and his two children, a boy and girl, who were travelling in the sedan were declared dead at the scene.
Meanwhile the children’s mother was rushed to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital where she is fighting for her life.
The male driver of the ute was taken to Dalby Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The accident is being investigated by the Queensland Police Forensic Crash Unit.
Drivers were asked to avoid the area for hours as police investigate the cause of the crash.
Police are urging Queenslanders to be careful on the roads, with more than 130 people dying so far this year.
“Can I please remind everyone that we have a significant challenge with our road toll this year,” Police Commissioner Steve Gollschewski said.
“People on the road need to obey the rules of the road and drive to the conditions.”
Queensland Ambulance said road closures are expected to remain in place well into the night.
