A young Tasmanian couple have been tragically torn apart after a quad bike accident claimed the life of a teenage boy and injured his girlfriend.
On Saturday afternoon, 16-year-old Tyler Evans and his 16-year-old girlfriend Kirby-Rose Denby were involved in an accident near Oldina, in Tasmania’s rural northwest.
Both teenagers were taken to the North-West Regional Hospital in critical condition, but Tyler sadly succumbed to his injuries around 6:30am Sunday morning.
On Sunday, Kirby-Rose was reported to be in a stable condition in hospital.
The teenager took to social media to share photos of her lost love and pay tribute to Mr Evans, who she called her “angel”.
“You’re my angel, love you so much, miss you forever,” she wrote.
“It’s so c*** I’m never gonna be with him in person again.”
Scott Evans, Tyler’s father, also took to social media to farewell the teen. He shared a photo of him and his son sitting on a brick wall in memory.
Taylen Rose, a childhood friend of Tyler, told The Mercury she grew up with him and they shared a brother and sister bond.
“He absolutely adored his farming toys as a kid, along with Lego,” she said.
“I remember, when we were kids, we used to jump the back fence – our parents didn’t know – and we’d go down this massive rocky hill, and do roly-poly’s down it, see who could hit the bottom and scare all these ducks first.”
“Tyler was a loving person, a family man with big dreams and was still trying to live his life,” Ms Rose explained
“He was certainly a character, with his heart on his sleeve.”
Police are preparing a report for the coroners, and are reminding motorists to drive carefully on gravel roads.
