Qld Police investigate man’s death after Glenwood crash
Police are appealing for information after an international tourist died as a result of a shocking and unexpected incident while driving.
A 54-year-old man has died after he was struck by a rock that smashed through his windscreen while driving behind a truck.
Emergency services were called following reports a blue Volkswagen T-Cross was travelling north behind a truck on the Bruce Highway near Deveron Rd in Glenwood – about 215km north of Brisbane – when a rock smashed through the windscreen of the car, striking the driver on February 3.
The 54-year-old driver was flown to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police have since confirmed he died from his injuries in hospital.
The man’s passenger, a 56-year-old woman, was not physically injured during the incident.
The pair had been visiting Australia from overseas.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have any information or dashcam footage to come forward.
