Isuzu D-Max ute recalled for fire risk
One of the best selling vehicles in the country has been hit with a safety recall that could have big consequences if left unfixed.
Isuzu has issued an urgent safety recall for thousands of its popular D-Max dual-cab ute.
A recall notice issued by the Federal government department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development, Communications and the Arts says the affected vehicles could catch fire unexpectedly.
The fault is due to a manufacturing issue where the fuel hose may rub against the engine oil level bracket and become damaged. If this happens then a fuel leak may occur that could lead to a vehicle fire.
The recall notices says: “A vehicle fire could increase the risk of injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users or bystanders and/or damage to property.”
More than 8000 vehicles built between 2021 and 2023 are affected.
The Japanese maker has urged affected owners to contact their nearest Isuzu dealership to schedule an appointment to have the fuel hose and retaining clips replaced free of charge.
Owners that want to know more can contact Isuzu on 1300 147 898 or at info@iua.net.au.
The Isuzu D-Max is one of the best selling vehicles in the country with close to 25,000 sales through the first 10 months of this year. It’s the third best selling ute behind the Toyota HiLux and Ford Ranger.
The Isuzu D-Max also forms the base for the Mazda BT-50 with the same engine, transmission and other mechanical elements.
Porsche has also issued a recall for its 911 Carrera sports car.
More than 250 vehicles are affected by a faulty airbag that could deploy unnecessarily in the event of an accident.
The side airbag mounted in the seat is affected by a programming issue and may increase the risk of injury to vehicle occupants if it deploys when it’s not supposed to, according to the recall notice.
Owners can contact their local dealership to arrange a no cost repair.
