Subaru has confirmed it will import a more dynamic version of its BRZ sports car for Australia.

Dubbed the BRZ tS, which stands for “tuned by STI”, the driver focused sports car adds a range of performance parts.

Subaru Australia has confirmed the tS variant will arrive next year and registrations of interest are now open.

The basic formula remains the same with a 2.4-litre petrol engine that makes 174kW and 250Nm paired with either a six-speed manual or automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive.

It builds on this with STI-tuned suspension to improve the car’s cornering ability and responsiveness.

Big Brembo brakes are installed on the front and rear as are unique dark grey 18-inch alloy wheels.

Front and rear tS badges and black side mirrors and antenna add to the car’s visual appeal.

Inside there are plenty of cosmetic upgrades, too.

Leather accented and faux-suede seat upholstery have embossed STI logos and are joined by a red STI push-button starter and an exclusive driver’s instrument cluster.

Standard features include a small eight-inch central touchscreen that is compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and in-built satnav and digital radio.

Subaru Australia boss Blair Read says the engineering attention to detail elevates the driving experience.

“The BRZ is a fantastic all-round package and the Subaru engineers have now gone one step further with the tS variants’ handling, performance and design,” says Read.

Subaru is also fixing one of the bugbear’s of the current model by adding vital safety tech such as auto emergency braking and radar cruise control to variants equipped with a manual transmission.

Subaru Australia hasn’t revealed prices yet but expect the upgraded model to be priced closer to $60,000 drive-away.
