BOSSCAP inks deal with Hyundai to remanufacture its hydrogen fuel powered trucks

Global auto giant Hyundai has chosen a Queensland company to transform its pioneering hydrogen trucks for Australian roads in a world-first manufacturing deal.

Sustainable transport outfit, BOSSCAP Group, has done a deal with global motoring giant Hyundai to remanufacture its world-first hydrogen fuel powered trucks.

Hyundai’s XCIENT Fuel Cell hydrogen truck has been deployed in 13 countries and in Australia it represents a game-changing opportunity for fleets to transition to eco-friendly transport without compromising on range or power.

BOSSCAP Group chief executive Edward Kocwa says the deal with the world’s third largest automaker, will put the company “on the map” and lead to further opportunities.

“We’ll be spearheading the transformation of Hyundai’s pioneering hydrogen fuel cell truck to suit Australian road conditions and regulatory standards that will be an Australian first.” he says.

“This partnership is a testament to what’s possible when global innovation meets local ingenuity.”

BOSSCAP is responsible for bringing an electric right-hand drive version of the world’s best-selling pick-up truck the Ford F-150 Lightning to the Australian market,

The project will be based at the northside Brisbane factory of BOSSCAP subsidiary – Advanced Manufacturing Queensland (AMQ) – where the Ford F-150s are remanufactured from left to right hand drive.

Hyundai Motor Company Australia CEO Don Romano says Australia is an important market for Hyundai, especially in the advancement of hydrogen mobility.

“We are proud to work with AMQ on this historic milestone. Their expertise, innovation and local footprint made them the ideal partner to bring this hydrogen truck to Australian roads for the first time,” he says.

They’ve also secured the 15,000-seat Sunshine Coast Arena, fast-tracked public transport connections including connecting Brisbane to the south and the Sunshine Coast Airport to the north and ensured Maroochydore gets real legacy benefits from the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

“I’d like to thank the SunCentral Board, the Sunshine Coast Council along with our

development partners Walker Corporation, Evans Long, Habitat and Fortius,” she says.

“I’ll be taking a short break before seeking other opportunities.”

Money matters

Ord Minnett has opened its 15th Australian office in Noosa, to cater for a growing and wealthier population in the northern Sunshine Coast.

The new office complements the wealth manager’s existing Queensland offices in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Mackay, and Buderim on the Sunshine Coast.

The move comes as financial adviser numbers have halved around the country at the same time the intergenerational wealth transfer is expected to pass more than $5 trillion in assets by 2050.

Ord Minnett’s CEO Karl Morris says the firm has had a strong presence in the Sunshine Coast region for decades through its Buderim office.
“Our new office will allow us to extend our localised services in the Noosa Shire, where demand is also high,” he says.
