More than 20,000 Mercedes have been recalled from across Australia over safety concerns.

The recall was issued on the Department of Transport’s website on Monday after it was realised some vehicles sold over the last seven years could lose their power steering control.

The recall includes the models: A, EQA, CLA and GLB Class vehicles made between 2018 and 2024.

“The electrical power steering control unit backup software may not operate as intended,” the recall said.

“In the event of a failure of the power steering control unit, this could result in a loss of power steering control.”

If this occurs, it could increase the risk of an accident causing injury or death to those inside the vehicle or other road users.

A full list of the vehicles impacted by the recall can be found on the Department of Transport’s website.
