Sungold Field Days 2020: Forty new exhibitors to take part in Allansford agricultural event
Originally known as Acme Field Days, thousands are expected to take part in the Sungold Field Days next week.
FORTY first-time exhibitors are making their way to Allansford next week for the Sungold Field Days, one of largest in its four-decade history.
A range of dairy-linked stalls, artificial breeding companies and machinery dealerships will capture industry attention with lifestyle, clothing and local food stalls providing light entertainment.
More than 200 exhibitors will attend the three-day event, which takes place opposite Saputo’s Warrnambool Cheese and Butter factory.
Sungold Field Days coordinator Emma Kavanagh said attendees were afforded free entry next Wednesday, the first day of the three-day event.
“We had free entry on the Wednesday for the first time last year and it was a big success. Families in particular were keen to head along to the field days and see what was on offer,” Ms Kavanagh said.
“Even though Thursday and Friday is paid entry, we still had strong numbers because there’s so much to see right across the three days, with different events and exhibitors.”
Sungold Field Days are seen by many in the dairy as a barometer of the sector’s performance.
“We’ve been pretty lucky with the weather in the Warrnambool region for the past year,” Ms Kavanagh said.
“There’s been a pretty good harvest for many farmers and we haven’t experienced drought like many other parts of the country, so that’s provided confidence in business ahead of the Field Days.”
