FIELD days visitors will be entertained by three up-and-coming young musicians, all from country Victoria.

Kaitlyn Thomas, Bentley Grattan and Laura Byrnes will take the stage to perform a selection of their own songs chosen for the occasion.

University student Bentley Grattan, from Seymour, said he was looking forward to playing to the Elmore crowd.

“I personally don’t come from a farming family but my mother grew up on a Kyabram dairy farm, so I always knew that the Elmore Field Days was a huge calendar event but had never had the chance to see it or be involved,” Mr Grattan said.

“I am definitely looking forward to performing though and can’t wait to see what the event brings,”

Mr Grattan said he had been playing regularly for the past two years.

“I grew up in Seymour and moved over to Bendigo in 2014 to start university at La Trobe, which was the year that I also began performing.

“It began with open microphone nights and then eventually a couple of events that I was asked to play at the moment,” he said.

“I am now performing regularly for a number of venues, events and functions.”

Mr Grattan said music had interested him from a young age and events like the Elmore Field Days helped him develop his skills.

“We used to have an old guitar laying around the house, which nobody could play and was missing a string but I decided that I wanted to learn how to play it,” he said.

“When I was eight years old I started learning the guitar and have never looked back.

“I didn't start singing until 2013 when I was in Year 12, which was something that I taught myself and have gradually honed in the past few year with the help of other musicians’ tips mostly.”

Eighteen-year-old Laura Byrnes, a Country Music Association of Australia Academy of Country Music graduate, released her self-titled debut EP in December 2015.

Ms Byrnes said she started singing lessons as a child to help overcome speech and hearing difficulties.

Kaitlyn Thomas will also be playing original country songs.

Ms Thomas has been mentored by well known Australian country artists Beccy Cole, Amber Lawrence and Allan Caswell.
