A ONE-day food innovation workshop could deliver the next big thing in red meat.

ROCKET Seeder and Meat and Livestock Australia are teaming up to deliver the “Design Sprint” on the Thursday of Farm World, which aims to get people thinking about opportunities in the red-meat industry. In one day, participants will go through idea generation, sketching, prototyping and pitching a product.

Rocket Seeder managing director Jeffrey Bourne said he hoped it would inspire some innovators to take the next step in their creative journey.

“The idea behind it is that innovation and entrepreneurship are tightly connected,” he said.

“We often find people come up with relatively shallow ideas. So what we’re trying to do is provide them with some deep insight into what’s happening in the market around different themes. “

The four themes are personalised nutrition, snacking on-the-go, healthy ageing and sustainable food and packaging.

Places are limited and Mr Bourne said those who would get the most out of the workshop would be from a red-meat industry background.

“We’re looking for people who are maybe red-meat producers or processors, those people who are butchers, chefs and then those sorts of people who support the value chain, through manufacturing, packaging, retailers and distributors and dietitians and nutritionists,” he said
