THE Farm World Equestrian Expo gets bigger every year and this year is no exception.
Event-goers will be greeted with an all new Barrel Racing Shootout on Friday and a special Saturday night extravaganza.
“Barrel racing is a timed western event,” expo co-ordinator Aimee Taylor said. “Riders and their horses do a pattern around three barrels.”
Aimee, a keen show jumper, has been there from the start when the Farm World Equestrian Expo began three years ago. She is looking forward to see who wins the Farm World Cup on Sunday.
“It’s the biggest prizemoney across the four days — $5000,” she said.
Last year, Steven Hill took home the Farm World Cup, riding Yalambi’s Bellini Star.
The new Saturday night events will also host a show jumping championship with $2000 up for grabs, and $200 awarded for the best costume.
“They’ll also be entertainment that night, a bar, food and music,” Aimee said. Special entertainment will begin from 5pm, where patrons can stay on from day activities at no extra cost or buy tickets at the gate for $10.
The four-day expo will also feature dressage, mountain trail and mounted games demonstrations, as well as a large equine specific trade village and master classes.
“We’ve got an education program which cover all different disciplines, including sports psychology, campdrafting and training young horses,” Aimee said.
Presenters will include grand prix dressage rider Nicole Magoffin, and grand prix showjumpers Adam Wootten and Taylah Lambert.
