FARM World is sharing the love for the agriculture industry with their “Love Your Farmer” theme and a new marketplace set up at Lardner Park.

In its 52nd year at its Gippsland location, the event is catering to all kinds of visitors, from urban pioneers to hardcore farmers and those just in the neighbourhood.

The farming community will be front and centre this year with a theme that acknowledges the hard work of those that feed and clothe the country.

“Throughout the event you will see a host of activities and opportunities to celebrate the significant contribution our farmers make and the importance of this $13 billion food and fibre industry,” Lardner Park marketing manager Jo Kingwell said.

This year a special feature of the weekend will be the Farm World Marketplace, a display of local produce and products.

Stock up on all the goods you’d find at a farmers market, from berries and jams to handmade toys and soaps and plenty more — if you can make it, bake it or grow it, you can find it here.

Animal lovers will again be spoiled for choice with horse and dog shows, cattle displays and an interactive petting zoo featuring alpacas, lambs, piglets and chickens.

The Telstra Women in Ag Luncheon this year will feature talks from Melissa Connors, the founder of This Farm Needs a Farmer and 2018 Victorian Agrifutures Rural Women’s Award winner; climate change advocate, US expat and organic farmer Amy Paul, and passionate young farmer turned business owner Claire Templeton.

The luncheon will be held on Thursday and tickets can be purchased online.

Back by popular demand is the Fittest Farmer competition, which will be held in the Entertainment Centre on Sunday. Farmers from all kinds of industries are encouraged to put their muscles to the test in a series of challenges and prizes and pride will be on the line.

Other activities you can enjoy at Farm World include helicopter rides, agri-tech zones, music performances, business demonstrations and a huge array of food, drink and shopping options.
