THE new Poettinger Impress round baler will be displayed for the first time at an Australian show at Farm World.

It has been in the country for a couple of months for customer demonstrations but this is the first time the unusual baler can be seen in the metal.

“The way it feeds crop over the rotor is pretty unique and that’s been getting some comments,” said Poettinger’s Eva-Maria Heikenwaelder.

The baler has a unique knife system with the knife bank positioned above the rotor, which Poettinger said improves flow into the chamber.

Other benefits are that the slide-out knife bank is higher, making it easier to service and having it above the rotor reduces the chance of fouling by crop debris or fluid.

The 32 knives are said to achieve a short 36mm chop length, which is a good way to get more density into your bales.

Ms Heikenwaelder said Poettinger will also be showing off its full range of seeding equipment on its site.

“The Aerosem was displayed last year but the configuration wasn’t quite suitable so we took off the coulters to make it more suitable for grass seeding,” she said.

“We will also be displaying the Tegosem air seeder unit for the first time, and the Terrasem, which can deposit different kinds of fert at the same time as the seed, will also be there.

“There will also be a full range of mowers, tedders and rakes, as well as the power harrow that has been a good product for us in Gippsland.”
