FOR the first time since its opening in 2007, Elmore’s elite equestrian park will be used for its intended purpose.

In the past the park has been used for other displays and to hold exhibitors.

This year, staff from Horse-Hand in Echuca will be providing equestrian information and showcasing training ponies and horses.

HorseHand managing director Jodie Kelvy said it would be a good chance show people how rewarding owning a horse or pony could be.

“We’ll be doing horsemanship demonstrations and trick training and pony rides as well,” Ms Kelvy said.

“I don’t know how many horse people will be there but there always seems to be some at these events.

“It’s fun and interesting stuff and people should like it.”

Ms Kelvy believed pony rides would be popular with children and would be a good opportunity for parents to introduce their children to ponies and horses in a safe environment.

“It gives kids an opportunity to interact with and ride on a horse who might not have horses at home,” she said. “We’ve got the whole arena to ourselves so we’ll have plenty of room.”

She said the Elmore Equestrian Club was keen to promote equestrian activities in country Victoria.

“They want to encourage equestrian in the area and we’re sort of the doorway to the equestrian world.

“If people want to learn about horses they can come to us and we help them get started and pick the right horse.”

The field days’ John Giffin said it was always good to see new displays and exhibitions.

“We’ve had these facilities here for a while now, so it will be good for people to see them at use for what they were made for,” he said.

“It will be great for those interested in equestrian to have the horses there.”
