AgQuip field days cancelled
AgQuip is the latest field days to be cancelled amid the coronavirus pandemic, even after organisers postponed the event to November.
AGQUIP is the latest field days to cancel because of mass gathering restrictions and public health concerns amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The event has been held in Gunnedah, northwest NSW, every August since 1973, however mass gathering laws made it impossible to hold the event next month.
Organisers had postponed the field days to November, hoping the pandemic restrictions would have eased.
However, the new dates clashed with harvest season in northern NSW and Queensland which upset exhibitors who believed farmers would not attend during their busiest time.
“The decision was not taken easily – we were hopeful conditions might have improved to the point where we could be confident the event could be staged safely and effectively – and we were mindful of the economic opportunity for our industry and communities,” said Kate Nugent, group manager for ACM Events.
AgQuip joins a list of major field days cancelled in recent weeks with the Elmore field days called off last week.
Others to succumb to pandemic restrictions include FarmWorld, Wimmera, Mallee, AgFest, and Henty field days.
