IT WAS a win for the little guys.

In southern Australia’s biggest field days, a sheep handler designed by Urana farmer Charlie Webb beat a tough field of entries from the big machinery companies to take out the coveted Henty Machine of the Year.

Back Up Charlie is the brainchild of Mr Webb, who designed it to stop sheep from backing away in a race from a sheep handler.

Mr Webb said the handler had been two years in the design period and was now about to be manufactured in Lockhart, NSW.

The Henty Machinery Field Days run until Thursday, and rain did little to deter visitors as crowds flocked to the site yesterday.
