PFG Australia has expanded its Deutz-Fahr 5G Series tractor line-up with the introduction of a versatile new range-topping model.

The 126hp 5125G HD slides in above the 5105 (102hp) and 5115 (109hp) in the 2020 5G Series range, strengthening Deutz-Fahr’s presence in the all-important 100 to 200hp market.

PFG is pitching the new machine as the ultimate heavy-duty all-rounder, one that can meet the requirements of almost any operator across the Australian ag sectors.

“It’s in that main horsepower segment that our farmers are chasing today and it’s a very flexible tractor,” says PFG’s Deutz-Fahr product manager Anthony Darveniza.

“Most of the jobs of an all-rounder tractor, this model can do and exceed.

“You can use it from a livestock point of view, for front-end loader work or baling hay, or you can use it as a specialist tractor for vineyards or horticulture.”

One of the 5125G’s big tricks is an on-demand hydraulic system that allows the operator to boost oil flow from 55-56 to 90 litres a minute at the flick of a switch.

The system comes standard with three sets of rear remotes with flow control-detent and float functionality.

A rapid-steering system that halves the number of steering-wheel turns when engaged and stop-and-go system that allows drive take-up to be controlled via the brake pedal broaden its versatility.

“It’s all useful technology, not technology you’re not going to use,” Anthony says.

“If you require more oil flow, just flick the switch and away you go. If you’re stacking a truck with hay, or moving in tight places, the steering system is very handy.

“This stuff is click-of-the-button and you can see the advantages straight away. You can do a job a lot more efficiently, a lot quicker, just by engaging them.”

Other 5125G niceties include wet disc brakes, enhanced visibility for the operator and hydro silent-block cab suspension that’s claimed to reduce cab vibration by more than 40 per cent.

Its state-of-the-art new 3.8-litre FARMotion common-rail turbodiesel engine – developed to meet Tier 4 emissions regulations, but running to Tier 3 specification in Australia – has time-saving features such as automatic valve-tappet adjustment, self-tensioning fan belt and slide-out oil cooler for easier maintenance. Oil-change intervals are 600 hours.

“It hasn’t got an AdBlue requirement or diesel particulate filter technology on it. It’s a straight diesel-only engine,” Anthony says. “That means less maintenance and cost but you’re not losing any efficiency and you still get the fundamental advantages of the technology of the Tier 4 engine.

“Then you’ve got the detailed stuff that’s built into the engine, like automatic tappet adjustment. It’s making adjustments as the engine wears, so you don’t have to get someone out on to the farm to adjust it up accordingly as years go on.”

The 5125G is well positioned to snare buyers who wish to take advantage of the Federal Government’s increased instant asset write-off threshold before it expires on June 30.

“They arrived here in February,” Anthony says. “We’ve got them in dealers’ yards now and there are more coming through the system, so you’ll be able to get one on to the farm pretty quick – you won’t have to wait.”
