VISITORS to next month’s Wimmera Machinery Field Days will have the opportunity of a close-up look at Gason’s new NT8000 narrow transport bar/planter.

The company will have two machines on show at Longerenong, after one made its public debut at Allansford’s Sungold Field Days last week.

The field days displays follow the planter’s unveiling at a dealer preview on February 7 at Gason’s Ararat plant.

The 8m-wide planter sits low in the company’s range in terms of working width, which starts with the 6m CT2 and stretches through 10m, 12m 15m and 18m.

In less than a year of intensive research and development, the NT8000 was produced after growing demand for agricultural equipment to meet road transport regulations without the need for an accredited a transport pilot when shifting from farm to farm.

Australian-designed and manufactured, it comes in under 3.5m in width when on the road.

Gason agriculture division director Greg Gason said the response of dealers to the new model was “extremely positive”.

“The dealers were very excited about the product because they could see it ‘ticked the box’ for a highly critical requirement for customers,” he said.

“Farmers will be able to hop into the cab, fold the machine up and drive out on to the road, without concerns about width and without a pilot.

“I honestly believe our tine assembly is the most reliable on the market. It’s been a proven product for just on 20 years.

“The extra-large bearings and bushes are all case-hardened with special moly coatings and we’ve incorporated a polyurethane shock pad which absorbs all of the recoil when the tines jump an obstacle.

“There have been developments, though, in the bottom end, with the ground-engaging tools, sowing boots and press wheels.

“We can offer various levels of precision with regard to placement of seed and fertiliser with minimal soil disturbance and good wearing capabilities.

“At Wimmera field days (March 5- 7), we are also displaying our revamped parallelogram press wheel assembly for optimum seed and fertiliser placement.

“We’ve also purposely kept the wheels in-frame for greater manoeuvrability and added new safety and user-friendly features. The wing-fold cylinders now have over-centre valves incorporated and we’ve placed two gate valves near the hitch to lock off the hydraulics on both the lift and fold circuits as extra back-up.”

The frame will accept the Gason ScariTill spring tines, HydraTill (hydraulic) tines, frame-mounted press wheels and parallelogram press wheels on 178mm (7 inch), 250mm (10 inch) and 308mm (12 inch) spacings.

Gason’s mounted and trailing air seeders are also fully compatible.

Pricing for the NT8000 series starts from $80,000 (+GST). For more details, visit gason.com.au
