The recent opening of its new 8ha Beauvais 3 logistics centre in France, with a 30,000sq m building that houses the new logistics centre, is the first stage of a five-year plan.
The new facility warehouse and distribution centre will receive 60 truckloads of components per day, which are then catalogued, stored and released when the factories request them. The latest technology has been integrated, including finger-mounted barcode scanners, automatically-guided vehicles and drones for stock checking.
The autonomous EyeSee drone works its way up and down the warehouse scanning and making an inventory of items. A camera takes detailed images of the parts and boxes, to assess the condition, saving labour for mundane tasks.
Massey Ferguson announced plans for the purchase of land and buildings between the Beauvais 1 and 3 sites, creating a 54ha production site.
The extra space will allow Agco, Massey Ferguson’s parent company, to employ up to 2500 people and to roll out a range of new agricultural machinery.
