Boasting feature-packed cabins, Case IH’s latest Steiger tractors fuse connectivity and comfort with additional horsepower.

THE LATEST Steiger tractor range from Case IH has hit Australian shores with a feature- stacked cabin that makes it more like a mobile office than a workhorse.

Connectivity, remote monitoring, automatic settings and comfort have gone to a whole new level, with Steiger now joining its stablemate, Magnum, in receiving the next generation AFS (Advanced Farming Systems) Connect makeover.

The AFS Connect Steiger promises Australian farmers the same connectivity and technology advancements of the AFS Connect Magnum, but with additional horsepower for those with bigger jobs and areas to cover.

AFS Connect allows farmers to view and precisely manage their tractor’s operations and data anywhere from a computer, phone or tablet. It also allows viewing and sharing of their agronomic data, down to paddock level, with third-party partners of their choosing.

Available in both tracked and wheeled versions, including Quadtrac and Rowtrac from 400-600hp, the AFS Connect Steiger features a redesigned cab and all-new armrest with ergonomic controls, automotive-grade design elements and a 30cm screen display that can be configured to multiple drivers’ individual needs. There is also a new operating system and receiver.

“Like the AFS Connect Magnum, this new Steiger represents the future direction for the entire Case IH tractor line-up. From the design upgrades and enhancements to the suite of new technology driving new levels of efficiency and productivity, the AFS Connect Steiger delivers the connectivity that enables producers to control and oversee their operation from not only the tractor cab, but from home, in the shed, or wherever they may be,” said Case IH Australia-NZ Steiger product manager Jason Wood.

“The power, durability and efficiency that have been the hallmarks of the Steiger range for more than 60 years remain the same, but these latest technology enhancements only amplify its appeal to the customer looking for a tractor that can tackle the biggest and most demanding of tasks.”

“The enhanced levels of connectivity in the new Magnum, and now Steiger, sets these tractors apart, providing more support features, reducing downtime and maximising productivity.”

Support features such as remote display viewing allows a farm manager or dealer no matter where they are to request to view the screen in the tractor cab.

The remote service tool allows a local Case IH dealer to remotely diagnose maintenance and service issues and identify the parts needed to stay up and running without ever needing to visit the operation.

And remote software updates keep operating firmware up-to-date wirelessly to take advantage of new features, functionality and enhancements.

The AFS Connect Steiger is powered by three system components starting with the AFS Pro 1200 Display which provides great visibility day or night and features exterior camera feeds, easy Bluetooth pairing to link a mobile device, and remote display viewing to connect operators with farm managers seamlessly.

The AFS Vision Pro operating system works just like a smartphone or tablet and allows producers to control the tractor with a touch screen configured to suit their needs.

The AFS Vector Pro receiver streamlines tractor guidance correction options, ranging from base to medium to high accuracy levels.

The cab, like that of the AFS Connect Magnum, has been completely redesigned, blending simplicity, control and comfort, no matter the conditions or crop. Features include; ergonomic MultiControl Armrest with eight control buttons; a MultiFunction Handle with four programmable hot keys and an encoder knob for total control at the operator’s fingertips.

Newly-designed heating, ventilation and airconditioning and suspension, improved visibility and a 40-degree leather swivel seat come standard. There are also 29 power connectors and diagnostic ports to connect all the devices required to monitor and control the operation and an advanced steering system with adjustable steering rates.

Manitou’s new MLT-X boosts grunt and comfort

VISITORS to Beef 2021 in Rockhampton in the first week of May will have front-row seats for the Australian launch of the latest telehandler from French machinery manufacturer Manitou.

The MLT-X 841 145 PS+ now takes the place of the MLT-X 840, Manitou’s bestseller in Australia for the past seven years.

Designed to be used in intensive agriculture, the machine has a maximum capacity of 4.1 tonnes, a top lifting height of 7.6m and unladen weight of 9160kg.

Powered by a four-cylinder, 141hp (105kW) Yanmar engine, it is equipped with a transmission featuring five forward gears (three reverse), a maximum speed of 40km/h and 200 litres per minute hydraulic load-sensing pump.

Manitou Australia business development manager (agriculture) Terry Fahey said the new model had introduced some significant upgrades.

“The cabin is the quietest on the market at 69dBa and has been increased in size to give the operator a more comfortable working space — up by 20cm in length and 4cm in width,” Mr Fahey said.

“The cab is soundproof with 360-degree visibility, has a joystick to control all hydraulic functions, air suspension seat and camera option to allow the operator to monitor what’s happening during loading.

“The engine, too, has been upgraded, from a Stage IIIA John Deere to a Stage IIIA Yanmar, making this machine our premium heavy-duty loader.

“We’re talking intensive agriculture, but the MLT-X 841 really is designed for the high end of that market, where machinery can take a lot of stress.

“That switch in engines has resulted in 12 per cent more torque to the ground and 11 per cent better fuel consumption than the previous model.”

The machine has been designed for bulk grain loading work, towing a trailer, stacking bales, feeding animals and handling bags and pallets.

The transmission comes with automatic and manual shifting modes and inching function, there’s easy access for maintenance and the 142-litre fuel tank allows for some long working days.

Add-on options include hay forks and bale clamps, a wide range of buckets, big bag handlers and manure grabs.

The automatic greasing system is included at the platinum-finish level and is an option on all other finish levels.
