A ripper sale day at Yea has kicked of the first off the Victorian weaner sales.

Yarding just under 1700 cattle and tipping the scales at around 400kg for the heavier end, all types sold well, achieving highs of well into the $8/kg range.

Nutrien Ag Solutions Yea agent Tyson Bush said as the first weaner sale of the season there were nerves surrounding the day.

“It’s always a bit of a worry because we are that first trial so you wonder if it’s too early or not early enough,” Mr Bush said.

“We had some confidence though because our monthly store sales have had autumn drop calves littered through them.”
