Personal trainer proves you don't need a strict diet to stay shredded
A personal trainer is proving you don’t need a strict diet to stay fit.
A food-obsessed fitness fanatic is proving that you don’t have to maintain a strict diet to stay shredded as he takes on massive eating challenges around Queensland, including a 2kg burger and a 6.7kg cake.
Jimmy Judge has always had a love for health and fitness since taking out the Australian Junior super featherweight title in 2011, but has since developed a new passion for competitive eating.
“My initial plan was to show people that you can still definitely enjoy the foods you like, and you don’t have to gain a bunch of unnecessary weight or be unhealthy,” Mr Judge said.
“When I’m not doing my big crazy challenges, I really try to show people that you can still enjoy what you want … it takes the fun out of it when you get too restrictive.”
Some of the craziest challenges he’s taken on include a 2kg monster snack pack, which he completed in under 10 minutes, a two-foot hotdog and chips from OBJ sports bar and chugging three litres of milk in less than two minutes.
“I do a lot of training and practice for the challenges, so I do specific training to expand my stomach and specific training to eat faster,” Mr Judge said.
“Before a challenge I might try to eat a couple of kilos of broccoli with a couple of kilos of watermelon because it’s a low calorie high fibre food so it still fills up the space and expands your stomach without being a big overload of calories.”
“The day before a challenge, I’ll have a lower calorie day, and the day of the challenge, calories will be quite high; the day after, I just try and keep to whole foods like fruits, vegetables and lean meats.”
His social media presence has quickly grown, and in the five months of participating in eating challenges, he has already reached 20,000 followers on Instagram.
The 28-year-old maintains his fit physique, balancing his enormous portions with six days a week of tiresome training.
“Fitness is like meditation for me, I’ve struggled in the past with my mental health, which I guess we all do as humans, but I find that fitness for me really helps me keep on top of everything like my mental, physical and spiritual health so I always try to train six days a week,” Mr Judge said.
