Evita the Musical

When: 13th September until December
Where: Sydney Opera House

With more than 20 major awards to its credit, the original Broadway and West End production ofTim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic musical EVITA will open at the Sydney Opera House in September and Arts Centre Melbourne in December, directed by legendary Broadway directorHal Prince and starring Tina Arena.

EVITA charts the story of Eva Perón, wife of Argentine dictator Juan Perón, from her humble beginnings through to the extraordinary wealth, power and status which ultimately led her to be heralded as the ‘spiritual leader of the nation’ by the Argentine people.

Featuring some of the best-loved songs in musical theatre, including Don’t Cry For Me Argentina,On This Night of a Thousand Stars, Oh What A Circus, You Must Love Me, and Another Suitcase in Another Hall, this smash hit show truly promises to be the theatrical event of the year.


Shakespeare’s Globe pop-up

When: From September 5, running for six weeks
Where: 122 Lang Rd, Moore Park

A full-scale working replica of Shakespeare’s Globe theatre opens on at Moore Park EQ this September. After performing to an astonishing 450,000 people in just two years, the world’s first full-scale temporary working replica of one of the greatest theatres in history, the pop-up Globe will run four of Shakespeare’s beloved classics over six weeks.


Ruby Chocolate Experience

When: September 10 - 23
Where: San Churro,Glebe

Indulge in the Real Ruby Chocolate Experience at San Churro. It’s the first new flavour of chocolate to be found in the last 80 years and anyone who can get their hands on some (let alone stuff it in heir gob) is counting themselves very lucky. This two-part, dine-in experience includes a chocolate tasting and dessert reveal. Tickets $37.83–$53.56


Film Club: Wonder

When: 19th September
Where: Balmain Library

Head over to Balmain Library this September to view Wonder. Based on the New York Times bestseller, Wonder tells the incredibly inspiring and heartwarming story of August Pullman, a boy with facial differences who enters 5th grade, attending a mainstream elementary school for the first time.


HSC Ready: Headspace HSC chat

When: Wednesday 26th September
Where: Leichhardt Library

The lead up to the HSC can be a stressful few months for students. This event teaches students how to reduce stress, look after themselves and focus on their exams. It is so important to look after yourself both physically and mentally during times of high stress and this HSC chat is the perfect opportunity for students to learn how to do just that.


Hello Holidays: Kids-made workshop

When: 2nd October, 10am-12pm
Where: Marrickville Library

There are some fantastic activities for the kids to get involved with at Marrickville Library theseSpring school holidays. At the Kids-made workshop the children will learn how to make origami, bags, learn how to weave plus much more. This workshop is suitable for children between 8-12.


Hello Holidays: Spoken word and film-making fun for teens

When: Monday 8th and Tuesday 9th October
Where: Marrickville Town Hall meeting room

School holiday workshops and events don’t always have to focus on the little ones. This spoken word and film-making workshop is perfect for teens that are interested in the film and creative writing industry. It is a two-day hands on workshop that explores ideas of connection to land and culture. Those learnings are then turned into compelling spoken word and film. All material that students need is provided, lunch is also provided both days.


Kid Couture

When: 29th September - 14th October
Where: Powerhouse Museum

Kid Couture returns to the Powerhouse Museum with playful new trends this spring. Bring the kids and design your own creation in the fashion making space, where everyone can be a designer!This event encompasses all levels of the design process, from sketching the design, to bringing it to life with the tools, fabrics and paper supplied. You also have the option to bring in an old piece of clothing and transform it into something fresh and new. Entry is included with Museum admission and if FREE for kids aged 16 years and under.
