Free Cricket Skills Clinic

Do you want to try cricket, or improve your skills before the season starts?

Active Canterbury-Bankstown has teamed up with Sydney Thunder to provide two free cricket skills clinics, for children aged 5-13 years:

Sunday 26 August, 10am, at Bankstown Memorial Oval, Bankstown; and
Sunday 2 September, 10am, at Blick Oval, Canterbury

All equipment is supplied, just make sure you wear comfortable shoes and don't forget a hat!
Children must be supervised for the duration of the session. Spaces are limited so registrations are essential. To register, visit  or, for more information, call Council's Recreation Officer on 9707 9236.

Free Native Plants A selection of native trees, shrubs, grasses and groundcovers seedlings, grown from locally-collected, seeds will be available to residents. Plants are available at:

Bankstown Library and Knowledge Centre, 80 Rickard Road, Bankstown
Earlwood Library and Knowledge Centre, Corner Homer and William Streets, Earlwood; and Panania Library and Knowledge Centre, Corner Tower Street and Anderson Avenue, Panania Residents can visit during opening hours to collect their free native plants. There is a limit of four plants per household, with limited plants available.

Bankstown city choir

New singers are always welcome at the Bankstown city choir. If you enjoy singing, the choir’s philosophy is that everyone who wishes should have a chance to sing and so there are no auditions to become a member. You don’t need to read music or have any other prior experience. Music reading ability and auditions are not necessary.

Computers for seniors

Computer Pals for Seniors Bankstown was formed in July 1999 with a goal to teach computer skills to Senior Citizens in the Bankstown area, so that they can explore the advantages; satisfaction and fun of using information technology. A member of the Australian Seniors Computer Clubs Association (ASCCA) the project has many skilled trainers and some assistant trainers and offer one on one training on Word; Excel; Access; Publisher; PowerPoint; Photoshop; Music; email; Facebook and Twitter. Plus we also assist with Mobile Phones, and now have trainers versed in Apple iPads and Tablets.

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9am-12.15pm.

Friday night fever

Direct from Las Vegas, the Australian Bee Gees Show is returning. Acclaimed by the president of the Bee gees Fan Club USA as the best Bee Gees tribute in the world, the band keeps as close as possible to the original performances and vocals while touching on all eras of the brothers Gibb.
